Sketchy Sunday on a Monday

It's been a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and I couldn't help taking a little time out over the past week and that meant I missed last week's sketch and this one has slid a little, but hey we have to grab the sun while we can. Apologies if you came looking for a little inspiration. Now I'm back on track and here's this week's sketch, no. 169.

I did manage to join in with the fun on The Craft Blog by participating in the August challenge. You had to design something with a tropical theme. I went for a flip mini album mounted on a Ikea Tolsby frame. I filled it with photos from my 2016 visit to Tropical Wings, a regular summer day out.

I used the First Edition Floral Fusion paper pad for the album combined with plenty of die-cuts and a splash of bling.

I think I'll join in with some more of these challenges, it's proved to be a fun project this time around.

Happy scrapping

Movies watched this week.

The Dark Tower - Stephen King adaptation, a little flawed, but enjoyable.
Deathnote - Manga adaptation horror thriller.

Sketchy Sunday no. 168

I seem to be taking ages to finish my current layout, mainly because my printers gone bang and I need it to print my journaling. In the meantime I'm making minis and getting into my new addiction  of ATCs, not to mention drawing up sketches. Talking of which, this week's sketch is a triple image version, but you could always use one of those panels for journaling if that's where the mood takes you. So, here it is, sketch no. 168.

I can't resist the girly embellishments and of course there's bound to be some bling in there too.

Now, this is what I've been making while waiting for the new printer. As I mentioned I've been getting into ATCs and this week I used some of the supplies from my Trimcraft Design Team kit to make these little art panels.

I don't do a lot of stamping as I've always been disappointed in the crispness of the image, but I have to say these little Dovecraft stamps are lovely and even I can get a nice clean stamp. I'll have to start using a lot more stamping in my projects. I used the Blooming Lovely embossing folder to emboss the ATC before blending with a green and pink ink pad. Then I stamped on a piece of Simply Creative Sugar Rush paper and tore and edged the text panel in silver glitter.

For the second one in the set I embossed the background using the Painted Blooms embossing folder for the ATC, inked and added another stamped panel edged in glitter. A few die cut butterflies with some Dovecraft Glitter Glue and it was done.

For the final card in the set I used a black background before again embossing a piece of Sugar Rush paper, this time with the Couture Du Jour embossing folder. Die-cuts and a little stamping and the card was completed.

Sketchy Sunday no.167

This week's sketch is another of my 'found' sketches and shows one of my favourite shapes, the parenthesis. I use these time and again in layering on both layouts, cards and more recently mini albums and ATCs. So, here we have it, sketch no. 167.

Make the layers with different patterns or textures and throw in some glitter layers to really make it pop.

This week I got bit by the ATC bug and tried my hand at these little art panels. I'm sold on these and have already made a few more with a different paper line. For these three I used the Simply Creative Go Wild paper pad, mixing in some glitter die-cuts and of course my goto gems.

The die set I used here is one of my favs Clocks by First Edition.

This little stamp set pictured is my latest bargain, a frugal £1.25 a set at The Range. There are six different font sets available and I'll definitely be hunting down the other five.

The clock brad shown here was also a bargain, picked up at Poundland for a set of eight. I've used these loads, although usually not as brads just as decorative charms.

If you haven't tried ATCs I'd recommend it, the little panels make quick, but very satisfying projects and a great way to use up your favourite paper scraps that have been languishing in the scraps file.
