Sketchy Sunday no. 14

Morning inspiration seekers, I'm glad you popped by. Today marks sketch number 14 and I'm going with a four photo sketch today.

This simple sketch, ripe for busying up is also perfectly suited for a simple graphic layout. Tell a story with multiple photos and plenty of room for your journaling too.

I often recrop photos into squares, sometimes what as a standard 6 x4 shape is a fairly uninteresting photo can be brought to life by just recropping as a square. Give it a try, it really can make all the difference.

Bead bonanza!

For those of you who have the bead spray bug, checkout my previous post on creating your own bead sprays if this isn't something you've tried, or if you're just an avid beader then I've discovered a new source of beads.......wait for it......the kids department at Primark! I found this pretty collection today for a bargain £1. It has loads of co-ordinationing beads perfect for sprays, although as I've said before for the extra special projects I do love the Cousin brand.

Go on grab a bargain. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on the accessories in the future.

Happy Bargain Hunting.

To Die for!

Have you seen the Xcut Shadow Box die sets? I've been lucky enough to receive one in my design team kit and I had the perfect quick project for it.

I used all but two of the dies from the Woodland set to create a dimensional mount for a photo of Ray walking in our local park, laden with my tripod. I trimmed each die cut to size and layered them up with 3d foam pads to create depth in the mount. I then adhered the photo to the last die again using foam pads.  The design works well with the photo showing through the gaps in the woodland design. A really simple project that looks great in the chunky Ribba frame from IKEA, which has plenty of room for all the layers and complete with the white mount priced very reasonably from £1.75 and available in a variety of finishes, this one being white stained oak effect.

After using this versatile die set I can see how the £19.95 price tag is justified as the dies can be used individually and as a set, so it really works out great value for money. Now I'm lusting after the rest of the Shadow Box range....it's an addiction I tell ya!

Sketchy Sunday no.13

I've been a busy crafter so far this weekend, a framed photo experiment, an altered notebook and I'm putting the finishing touches to a hanging mini album of sorts, as well as designing this latest sketch....it's been fun and great having a bit of crafting time.

l'll try to get some photographs done and post later this week, so do pop back if you're interested in what I've been up to.

Enough of the small talk, it's Sunday and you know what that means....yes it's Sketchy Sunday no.13 and I've switched back to a single image sketch this week. A rather graphic design this time, great for a smaller layout size as well as the standard 12 x 12 and still with loads of journaling space. Some photos just look great cropped to a square so dig those babies out and have at it.

As always I'd love to see your layouts and if you have any sketch preferences let me know in a comment and I'll try to accommodate your requests in future sketches. This is your chance, looking for 5, 7 or 12 photos on a page or love flourishes and flowers then let me know and I'll try to come up with a sketch for you.

X Marks the spot

As I was in the vicinity, I stopped off at Hobbycraft for a spot of bargain hunting. As luck would have it they currently have the paper mâché mini treasure chest on offer, for the ridiculously cheap price of 50p......I know great right.

I bought two and have plans for very chunky mini albums for these cute boxes.

On the subject of bargains I have to say Creativity Magazine have outdone themselves with free gifts this month, a set of stamps (really useful ones), a trio of chipboard and thread embellishments and finally my favourite some resin flowers, buttons and bling. Check it out, it's worth it just for the freebies.

Sketchy Sunday no.12

After being inspired by my last triple photo sketch, which led to the 'Boysterous' layout, I decided another was in order. I'm usually more of a single photo or many photo scrapper so two or three photo layouts are pretty rare for me but the last one came together so well that I'm thinking maybe I should do more. So, with that in mind I set about creating this one.

I'm getting to grips with the ipad app and so now the bus journey to work is a handy time to create a sketch. This sketch is one of those ones that I think would work as a card as well as a layout so I may even try a card as well, which would be even more unusual for me as I think my total card makes ever now total the impressive number of three.

Magnets and Manila

My lovely hubby Ray picked up some new scrappy bargains for me from one of my favourite shops 'Tiger', check out their website for your local branch http://www.tigerstores.co.uk/ and a look at their current stock.

If you have been scouting round my blog you will have noticed I'm a big fan of the mini album and so today's bargain is one I think I'll be having to repurchase very soon.

Both items were £1 each, definitely qualifying them as bargains of the highest order. The mini tags are a great size for your small albums being big enough for a small picture or a reasonable amount of journaling. The balls are a set of six magnets, great for brightening up your notice board or use them as I do, as book handles. Use Anita's 3d gloss finish to adhere the handle to your book and it won't budge.

Ray also bought me some lovely heart shaped ones, also priced at a £1 which are currently adorning my recently decorated noticeboard hence no picture.

Shop well and enjoy the sunshine.

Jingle bells, jingle bells....

Yes, it's another advent house completed. This is number seven in the set of twenty-four and is covered in a subtle paper from Maja Design - Vintage Frost Basics 10th of December.

I added a piece of old Christmas garland, the snow flake, and a wooden reindeer that I painted white and then covered in Glitz It iridescent glitter glue. The seven is a grungeboard number that I covered in silver glitter and 3d gloss finish.

As with all these houses the photo doesn't do the glittery finish justice but you get the general idea.

I'm really hoping the frosty Christmas paper lines start coming out soon as it is really difficult to find suitable papers but it does give me an excuse to window shop......not that I need any encouragement on that score and I don't generally stop at the window!

Sketchy Sunday

Woohoo.....the sun is shining and so I'm planning a walk round my local park. I'm lucky to be surrounded by parks and forests, perfect for taking out the camera for a little practice.

Ray (aka Hubby) outdid himself for my birthday and gave me an ipad mini, I know!, and I'm trying out an app to create some sketches. So after a bit of a learning curve here is my first effort.

I'm impressed with the app which is Publisher Star HD and I think it will prove even better once I create a library of my own images to use on my sketches, it will just take a little time but a great app to allow me to create some sketches on the go.

#Docraftsmonday - the day we share our Docrafts makes

This #Docraftsmonday project is a layout based on my Sketchy Sunday sketch no.8. The three photo sketch was perfect for these photos of my friend and her gorgeous boys and the title just summed it up......yes I know it's spelt wrong it was on purpose, honest.

A little close-up of the embellishment cluster with stamped date.

I used a bright base cardstlock to balance the monochrome Midnight Blush papers, a technique I seem to use a lot. The banner title is glued to a 28gauge wire with foam pads to raise it from the page and give it a little more pop.

I hope you get a chance to pay a visit to the Docrafts page on Facebook and check out the rest of the makes posted.

As always a big thanks for visiting my blog and for the lovely comments a lot of you have taken the time to leave, it really is much appreciated as it proves it's not just Ray (Hubby) reading my ramblings.

Sketchy Sunday no.10

After the excitement of the recent blog hops, which are continuing over the weekend, it's time for a little bit of routine so here we have this weeks sketch.

I've gone with another multi-photo layout for this week. This one is great for those big events with lots to see or just a great story, think weddings, kids sports days that kind of thing. If you're doing a 365 project it has room for seven photos so it's perfect to document a week on a page with a big area for journaling.

A few stars just to add a little interest could easily be replaced with hearts or flowers for a more romantic feel.

I know not everyone likes multi-photo layouts but it really can make for an interesting and memorable page so why not give it a try, it might just change your mind.

Happy Scrapping.
